OUR MISSION
doodleblobz art classes is a big fan of supporting, facilitating and living a colour-full, creative life.  Visual Arts enables the journey of self discovery and we believe that getting messy and creative through the wonderful world of art brings us closer to understanding our authentic, true colours.

With this in mind, and paintbrush in hand, doodleblobz encourages students to embrace art, its many surprises and its benefits.  We are committed to providing babies and toddlers with the opportunity to participate creatively in visual arts,  to appreciate artistic expression, and to expand individual imagination, all while having fun, and of course, getting MESSY!

THE IMPORTANCE OF TEACHING ART TO KIDS

Painting opens up a world of colour and communication for children, whilst providing them with a release of emotion. However, it is important to allow children the freedom to express their own creativity, without having any epectations.

Toddlers can use art to communicate their feelings. They might not always be able to explain verbally why they're feeling angry, depressed, happy or frightened. But in an encouraging environment, thy might be able to express feelings using pain and colour.

Toddlers love activities like finger-painting, pasting, colouring pictures, and folding or ripping paper. These activities might be a bit messy, but they have immense value. They help toddlers:

·          get used to new textures, such as the feeling of finger paint

·          learn how paint and paper move, and how they can be manipulated

·          develop all kinds of fine motor skills, as they use their fingers, elbows, feet and so on

·          express their thoughts, experiences or ideas through their creations.

At this age, children are still learning about shapes and lines, and ways of drawing and playing with them. A painting might look like spaghetti to you – but if it’s a tree to your toddler, it’s a tree.

Whether toddlers end up with a finished product isn’t important. The most important thing is for them to explore their creative impulses and self-expression.

A little about the art instructor herself. Ksenia Maiorova is a young mother of a 3 year old very creative little boy. She  is an illustrator and a jewelry designer. Some of her work can be seen at www.idraw.mosaicglobe.com and www.virtu.mosaicglobe.com  Watching her little son grow up gave her an inspiration to start art classes. Doodleblobz was originally formed in Toronto, her home town just a couple of years ago. It was ran out of her own home. Recently Ksenia has moved with her whole family to beautiful Vancouver for better weather and better life. Here she hopes to continue to pass on her passion for art.
